The calendar “Marilyn 2006”, including Franco Bogge's artworks, is made by 32 pages with artworks representing Marilyn Monroe. The calendar is made of 16 months (junedecember 2006, januarydecember 2007), beginning its way with the eighty first anniversary of her birth. (June 1st 1926). The artworks of the calendar are part of a paintings and sculptures cycle, realised by Bogge during 2005, and titled “Marilyn 2006”.
Bogge has two objectives: first, a more conceptual one, is about studying Marilyn Monroe as myth/icon of our time, from a non conventional point of view, mostly by photographs. The second one, a technical/artistic one, is about using traditonal painting mediums and printing (engraving, litography), full fledged and strenghtened during his work as painter, mixing these technics with the most uptodate means of digital processing of the image.
So, Bogge's copy avoids the myth reiteration, to come back to the womanMarilyn unity, transforming the copy in a piece of art, giving back Marilyn/Norma Jean to her problematic and restless humanity: Marilyn by the “italian style”. The calendar “Marilyn 2006”, intents to be an objet for collectioners, very interesting for those who collect images and objects concerning the american star. The shipping charges for certified mail are of 7 euros.
Bookshops and galleries interested in distribution/purchase are invited to contact Franco Bogge by email.
