| I was in Lerici, in the 1962 august, and I was painting landscapes. On August 4th , on the newspaper was written Marilyn is dead. Dies young the man who's loved by gods, said Schiller. Marilyn, the woman with the body of a goddess and the face of a child.
During those days I painted two pictures for her, a tribute, and I discovered that painting can express the dark side of man and what is full of light in him. And Marily's death was in shadow and solitude, far from the brightness of the Hollywood landscape.
Of course, later on, Marilyn's icon was undoubtely tied to the Warhol's images, and Warhol made of her a masterpiece that still survives in the imagination of many occidental men. During 2005 a private collectioner offered to my visual creativity some originals high quality photographs, and Marilyn's objects which keep the inexpressible atmosphere of her appeal: his love for Marilyn let me go into her universe, into the constellation of her star, so I was able to ameliorate my knowledge of the woman and of the carachter at the same time, and my works deeply prove it.
So Marilyn 2006 was born, with the iconographic look and the unknown Norma Jean's look, maybe the only one true.

Marilyn 2006 is a Franco Bogge's project, a tribute of an artist to the artist Marilyn Monroe, in the year of her eightyfirst birthday. Bogge has two objectives: the first one, a more conceptual one, is about studying Marilyn as a myth/icon of her time, mostly by photographs, from a non conventional point of view. The second one, a technical/artistic one, is about using traditional painting mediums and printings (engraving, lithography), full fledged and strengthened during his work as painter, mixing them with the most uptodate means of the digital processing of the image.
"After this first cycle of works, I would like to develop my reasearch about Marilyn Monroe more and more. So I wish that these works may awake the interest of collectioners and fans of the star, to let start cooperations, exchange of materials, and artistic comparisons to make of this research a work in progress."

Marilyn Monroe (June 1st 1926, august 4th 1962), was one of the most celebrated stars of the Xxth century. The Norma Jean's myth (this was her real name) will surpass her appreciated and more and more revaluated artistry, the artistry of a sure outsider, a forbidden dream for millions of movie fans.
Her appeal fron the screen and covers contributed to make of her a sex symbol out of every time. The fragility that marked her existance (a mad existance ended with an uncommon and premature death) made of her a true icon of the pop culture. She was also a singer, with a not very high qulity voice, but her tone colour was able to seduce the listener, because it was warm and profound. Her vocal successes are mostly in her most celebrated movies and we remember her singing the President Kennedy's birthday salute, performer “Happy birthday to you”, with a sexy voice.
